From: Robert A. Eikel Subject: The Thirteenth Annual Fortieth of July Do you need a good, stiff drink? Good. So do a lot of other people. Do you wish you had a proper holiday to celebrate the advantages that living in the US confers upon us, namely, superiority to Canada, freely available malt liquor, and beef? Now, you do. For the last dozen years, we have taken a sunny August Saturday to throw a party that spits in the pasty, rolling-rock-drinking faces of all the other parties. We assemble a crew of punks, drunks, molecular biologists, consultants, reprobates, engineers, mooks, medievalists, runners, rowers, venture capitalists, lawyers, programmers, misanthropes, and even chemists. We barbecue like our lives depend on it, and they do. We transport questionably legal quantites of beer within and across state lines. We listen to punk, funk, blues, country, and blues, and punk. There is no bullshit at the 40th. We have a simple, honest, brutal good time with no pretenses at all. We think maybe you should come.
